Author Suzanne Collins is expanding The Hunger Games universe.
Publisher Scholastic announced Thursday that Collins’ fifth book in the popular dystopian series, Sunrise on the Reaping, will be available on March 18, 2025.

In addition, Lionsgate will produce a film adaptation of the new novel to reach movie theaters on November 20, 2026.
The new title is set 40 years after the events of the most recent book in the series, The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, and focuses on themes of misinformation and government influence.
“I was inspired by David Hume’s idea of implicit submission and, in his words, ‘the easiness with which the many are governed by the few,’” Collins said in a statement. “The story also lent itself to a deeper dive into the use of propaganda and the power of those who control the narrative.
