Born in 1899 in Takehara, Hiroshima, Hayato Ikeda embarked on a path that would lead him to the pinnacle of Japanese politics.
Graduating from Kyoto University's law program in 1925, he entered the Ministry of Finance.
Early Career in Finance
Ikeda's early career was marked by rapid promotions within the Ministry of Finance. In 1929, he became Director of the Tax Bureau in Utsunomiya.
By 1941, he had risen to the post of Chief of the Tax Division within the ministry.
Postwar Politics
